of course that reminds me of the olde klassic line by herman melville

i rather sleep with a sober cannibal
than a drunken christian

eye would zay there is a wee bit of saltwater truth in that line
you know what the cannibal will do to thee
but a drunken christian would be an opened ended proposition
then he might not remember a thing the next day

eye wonder often what the native people used to think
when the missionaries used to explain the eucharist or holy communion to 'em

what is often heresy for one culture is total acceptance by another

of course my definition of religion
is not what you do for an hour on sunday
but what your deeds & accomplishments
are for those other 6 days a week........humanitarian efforts

prayer should be attended to each & every day
not just performed in front of a congregation & clergy

on who does more for the world

peoples' hunger that hungers for more hunger ......that is never satisfied
tis not getting a fix or addicted to everything that is ungodly&unholy
